A tape? A bootleg?

This was my first Bad Religion show, I was almost 15. It was weird returning to San Diego after 3 years in middle of nowhere PA and finally getting to see all my favorite bands. In PA my friend's older brother had all the albums and flipside videos and zines so even though I had never had been to a real show I knew all the music and what most of the bands looked like.

Within a month I saw BR and SD, Black Flag, and Descendents & Circle Jerks, but they were all different than what I knew from their records.

BR had Greg Hetson on guitar and 2 new guys on bass and drums, just one original member but they sounded okay. Social Distortion had a new drummer and bassist, not nearly as good as MLM. Black Flag had a new drummer with what sounded like a double bass pedal and played all new stuff, blah. Greg Hetson was back a week later with Circle Jerks and again a new drummer and bass player sounding more metal but still played a lot of old songs. Descendents were best of the month, they were back together with new members but were great old songs and new.

I felt like I had missed out on something, but a couple months later I saw Husker Du and then the Bad Brains and they were amazing and BR would only get better.

My band, Corporate Disease opened this show. Tim Maze didn't want to pay us the 50 bucks he promised, but in the end gave in with a little pressure.
